The NextConnect (NC5) is a universal 5G LTE cellular meter endpoint. Capable of supporting fixed-network, walk-by, drive-by, and cellular applications, it’s designed to scale your metering deployments with the simplicity of a single device.

How do I install the NextConnect?

Here are some of the main things to be aware of when installing the NextConnect:

  • The NextConnect is primarily designed for use in outdoor meter pits
  • The device is compatible with pit lid mounting holes from 1.7 to 2.1 inches (43 to 53 mm) in diameter
  • Keep the top of the device clear to avoid signal disruptions
  • Where possible, the area surrounding the device should be kept free of large objects that could block the signal
  • Poly/plastic lids are recommended

What communication options does the NextConnect have?

Utilizing built-in NextConnect™ wireless technology, the NextConnect has built-in cellular connectivity for direct communications with the cloud, as well as fixed-network, walk-by, and drive-by technology for built-in redundancy. This allows for seamless communication with our cloud-based data management software, ensuring real-time data transmission.

Each technology is always available and can be enabled remotely at any point, ensuring secure, reliable communication even in challenging environments. Smart frequency hopping reduces interference, while bi-directional encryption keeps data private.

To enable a new communication method, select the appropriate subscription tier in the NextCity web portal or mobile app.
