Add residents and invite them to the resident portal

Watch the full walkthrough

Open the Residents tab and add a resident

  • From the left-hand navigation, go to Organization Settings > Residents.
  • In the top right-hand corner, click the plus icon to add a new resident.
  • Enter the resident's:
    • Email address
    • Phone number (if available)
  • Link the resident to an address.
  • A resident can be linked to multiple addresses or meters.

Example use case

For a landlord or multi-tenant account, link a single resident to several addresses at once.

Review the resident's linked locations

  • Once added, the resident appears in the system with a list of their linked locations.
  • Click into each location to see the resident's information on the meter card.

Invite the resident to the resident portal

  • From the resident's profile, send an invite to visit resident.nextmeters.com/login.
  • The resident enters the email address that was added to their account.
  • They'll see a message asking them to check their inbox for a login link.
  • The resident receives an email with instructions to log into their utility's dashboard.

Branding

Each city can set its own logo and cover photo, so the login email and resident portal are branded to match that utility.

  • Clicking the link in the email logs the resident directly into their dashboard.
  • The resident sees:
    • A welcome page with their name and the utility's cover photo
    • A list of all addresses associated with their account
    • Water meter usage and the current reading as of the most recent check-in
    • Date range analytics

Coming Soon for Residents

More flow graphs and analytics, plus configurable threshold alerts and alarms, are planned for the resident portal.

Coming soon for Property Managers

Property managers will have the ability to bulk-add residents, rather than individually adding each one.

Due to updated regulations and product improvements, Next Meters reserves the right to change the product specifications without notice.
