Download your billing file and schedule exports

Watch the full walkthrough

The billing process, in two parts

  • First, download the sync file from your CIS system and import it into NextCity. This updates any customer names, service addresses, or account numbers changed over the billing cycle
  • Once those updates are processed, download the billing file out of NextCity to bring into your billing system

Downloading the billing file

Log into NextCity and find the Reports tab
Locate the report labeled Billing File (naming may vary by utility)
Before exporting, configure the final read date at the top of the report — useful if you ever need to pull a backdated billing file

Selecting a date shows a real-time preview of the last reading for every device on that date

Exporting and importing the file

Click the export button in the upper right-hand corner to save the file to your computer

Where exactly to save it depends on your CIS software's own instructions

Once saved, open your billing system and import the file

Setting up a recurring export

A recurring export means you don't have to remember to log in every month. The file just shows up in your inbox

Click the clock icon in the upper right-hand corner, then New Schedule
Give the schedule a name and, optionally, a description

The default frequency is Monday through Friday — change it to Monthly and pick a day (this example uses the 20th)

Set the delivery time (this example uses 6am)
Add recipient email addresses with the + button, one at a time
Click Save Schedule

Managing your recurring schedule

Open the schedule via the clock icon, then the three-dot menu, to edit, pause, or remove it entirely
Run Now sends the billing file immediately, useful for confirming a schedule works
Use Edit any time you need to add recipients or change the delivery date

Due to updated regulations and product improvements, Next Meters reserves the right to change the product specifications without notice.
